Phuket Bus Terminal 2 is Phuket’s main long distance bus terminal. The island’s other major bus terminal, Phuket Bus Terminal 1, is now primarily a departure point for minivans, bus services, and shared taxis to destinations in Phuket Island and shorter distance journeys to places such as Khao Lak and Phang Nga.

Local Travel from Phuket Bus Terminal 2
Private taxis and motorbike taxis wait in the car park of Phuket Bus Terminal 2, but no local minivan or bus services operate out of Phuket Bus Terminal 2. Taxi services are generally very expensive in Phuket and may find that a taxi from the bus station to popular beach areas such as Patong or Kata costs you more than a bus ticket to travel hundreds of kilometres to Phuket.
Shared taxi from Phuket Bus Terminal 2 to Phuket Bus Terminal 1
The cheapest option is to take the shared taxi service which runs between Phuket Bus Terminal 2 and Phuket Bus Terminal 1. These large pink vehicles depart every 20 minutes from platform 12 at Phuket Bus Terminal 2 and cost 15 THB per person (which you pay on the bus) to Phuket Bus Terminal 1. You find a variety of cheap minivan and shared taxi services at Phuket Bus Terminal 1 to local destinations such as Patong and an inexpensive bus service to Phuket Airport.
Phuket Bus Terminal 2 doesn’t have the same extensive range of amenities as you find at a major bus station in Bangkok, but it does have all the things you might need whilst waiting for a bus to depart.

There are toilets at the far end of Phuket Bus Terminal 2 and some small shops located in the central part of the bus station.

Phuket Bus Terminal 2 has a large ticketing area near to the front entrance of the bus station. Bus tickets and as well as minivan tickets can be purchased here.
Ticket counters at Phuket Bus Terminal 2
As with other bus stations in Thailand, different companies operate their own ticket counters. You need to find the correct ticket counter for the service you want to take. Quite often several different companies operate services to the same destination which means that if you are sold a ticket it won’t necessarily be a ticket for the next available departure, or the cheapest service, or the most comfortable service. Before you buy a ticket it pays to check what services are being offered at other ticket counters.
