Taxi and Bus services in Koh Samui

We do not recommend taking taxis in Koh Samui as they tend to be expensive, particularly for foreign visitors, and for longer journeys you are better off using one of the cheaper shared transport services operating on the island. Unless you have lot of luggage, or young children, the extra time and inconvenience involved in travelling with a shared service tends to be fairly minimal in comparison to the additional amount you will pay for an over priced taxi in Koh Samui.

  • Na Thon Piers: Your best option for travel from either of the two ferry piers in Na Thon is to take a shared taxi from the car park in front of the Lomprayah Ferry Pier, which is a short walk from the Seatran Pier in Na Thon. Shared taxis travel along the ring road in Koh Samui in both direction calling in at the town centre of popular destinations such as Chaweng and Lamai. If you travel by shared taxi you may need to stop close your destination and then walk or take a taxi for the short journey to your final destination.
  • Bangrak Seatran Pier: To travel from Bangrak Seatran Pier your best option is to book a minivan transfer with the Seatran Discovery Company whilst you are on the ferry from Donsak to Koh Samui. Minivan transfers with the Seatran Discovery Company cost 150 THB per person to any point on Koh Samui. There is always a member of staff on Seatran Discovery ferries who walks around the ferry selling passengers minivan transfers.
