How to Get from Bangkok to Cha-am

There are two ways to travel from Bangkok to Cha-am: by minivan or by train. The quickest way to travel from Bangkok to Cha-am is by minivan. It takes around longer to travel by train from Bangkok to Cha-am compared to travelling by minivan. There are also many more departures a day if you travel by minivan as opposed to travelling by train, of which there are only 3 per day.

Tickets for minivan services on this route can be booked online. If you prefer to travel by train then you need to buy your ticket at the train station. Train tickets for short journeys, such as the one to Cha-am, are not available to book online.

Option 1: Travel by Minivan


Minivan services from Bangkok to Cha-am depart from Sai Tai Mai Bus Station, which is on the western side of the Chao Phraya River which runs through the centre of Bangkok. Sai Tai Mai Bus Station is accessible by from Central Bangkok bus and taxi.

Option 2: Travel by Train


Trains from Bangkok to Cha-am depart from Bangkok’s main train station, known locally as Hua Lamphong. Hua Lamphong Train Station is located in Bangkok’s busy China Town district and can be easily accessed by Bangkok’s metro system: the MRT,

Arrival by minivan in Cha-am


Minivan services from Bangkok to Cha-am stop on the Phet Kasem Road before continuing their journey onward to Hua Hin. The Phet Kasem Road bus stop is a 1.3 km walk from Cha-am beach. Unless you are staying close to where the minivan stops then we recommend that you take a motorbike taxi or 4 wheeled tuk-tuk to your final destination. Journeys within Cha-am tend to cost 40 to 100 THB depending upon where you are going and what you can negotiate with the driver before you set off. Prices for motorbike taxis and tuk-tuks are not fixed in Cha-am.
